After two successful seasons, Netflix’s original series The Crown is returning with season 3 on November 17th, featuring an entirely new cast. Olivia Colman will take over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from Claire Foy, with Tobias Menzies succeeding the Duke of Edinburgh’s character. Helena Bonham Carter will also take on the role of Princess Margaret.
The first two seasons centered on the late 1940s to early 1960s, with the young Queen taking over the reins from her father. Meanwhile, the third and fourth seasons will feature a different era with the new cast depicting the royal family from 1960 to the early 1980s. The series creator, Peter Morgan, confirmed highlights of the new season, including the marriage of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon, the relationship between Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and Camilla, and the Queen’s interactions with Harold Wilson, the prime minister.
